Step 2. Choose Your Finish
This is important for two reasons. If you're planning to have a coloured stain, or oil, then the natural colour of the timber may be less critical. If you want to finish your floor with a clear polyurethane or hardwax, and have a particular colour in mind, there are stunning natural variations in timber colours for example Blackbutt aka. Pilularis and Matai timbers.

To make a final decision on the floor for your project, request a sample based on the preferences and finishes you've considered above.
