Rebuilding Nepal One Earthbag at a Time
EARTH BAG SCHOOL BUILD NEPAL 2017
Back when we were Timber Floor Solutions, we proudly donated to this cause to assist Court Construction in the rebuild effort in the Sindhupalchok District, Nepal — and we remain incredibly proud to have been part of such a meaningful project.
Earthbag building is a quick, simple, earthquake-resilient way to build and reconstruct, and was used in the FIRST STEPS HIMALAYA Earth Bag School Build in Nepal.
These earthbags are made from locally sourced and natural materials — barbed wire, old sacks, dirt, and water. They are cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and require less skilled labour than traditional masonry construction. This allowed community volunteers to help rebuild these educational facilities for the children of Nepal in the Sindhupalchok District.
The benefits and qualities of these amazing earthbags:
Quick to build
Fireproof, termite proof, flood proof, and earthquake resistant
Thermal/insulating effect — variation in outside temperature has a slow impact on the inner temperature of the structure
Roofs do not require wood, steel, or other materials when constructing with earthbags
This ingenious design is a product of Eco-Logis.org.
